Dear Fellow Youth Leader,

Greetings of peace and solidarity!

The National Anti-Poverty Commission –Youth and Students Sector (NAPC-YS) is pleased to inform you that the application for the 3rd National Sectoral Assembly is now open to all youth and student organizations.

NAPC-YS is one of the 14 basic sector bodies created under Republic Act 8425 or the Social Reform and Poverty Alleviation Act. It has been at the fore of basic sector engagement with national government agencies to advance the agenda of the marginalized youth.

The National Sectoral Assembly (NSA) is the highest decision-making body of NAPC-YS. Pursuant to R.A. 8425, a new Assembly is to be convened every three (3) years to review and approve the rules of engagement of the sector with the government; formulate the sector’s agenda for the next term; and elect the members of the Sectoral Council.

Youth and student organizations interested to apply as members of the 3rd NSA must have a 2-3 year track record. Membership in the 3rd NSA is open to organizations from different perspectives and persuasions. Likewise, it shall take into consideration regional and gender representation.

Interested organizations must submit on or before 31 March 2008

(a) an accomplished Application Form (available on the website); and

(b) a document certifying the organization’s official recognition (from the school, LGU, SEC, CDA or from other government agencies and NGOs which it partners with)
